ABOUT ALUMNI
The Alumni Coordination Cell (ACC) serves as a crucial bridge between an educational institution and its alumni, playing an integral role in fostering lifelong connections and creating a dynamic and supportive alumni network. This entity is vital in nurturing a sense of community, pride, and continuity among graduates, while also leveraging their expertise and resources to benefit both current students and the institution itself.
Functions of Alumni
- Provide a platform for the alumni to connect with each other for the exchange of Information, ideas, communicate their accomplishments, interests, and concerns, etc.
- Take opinions from the Alumni for the betterment of the student’s career.
- Enrich the emotional bondage amongst the Students, Alumni, and Faculty.
- Extend maximum help to the College in the placements and internships of students in reputed organizations.
- Recognize Alumni for their significant contributions to education.
- Propose and execute special projects: Infrastructure, Technical projects, Seminars, Conferences, etc.
- Institute awards for meritorious students.
- Institute awards for the Alumni for their contribution to the College and the Society.
- To strengthen ties between the Institute and alumni and encourage them to participate in the various cultural and social activities
Roles and Responsibility of Alumni Cell
Eligibility is
1. Graduates (B.E/BTech) and postgraduates (M.E/MTech/MBA) from
Meenakshi College of Engineering are eligible for membership and will be
admitted as members of the Association. The Executive Committee can
accept or reject the executive members of the association without any
explanation or any prior notice.
2. Every member of the association shall have one vote.
3. Any member who is unable to attend the meeting shall authorize in writing
the president, and his representative to vote on his behalf.
4. Admission and Subscription Fee: Every member applying for regular
membership shall pay an entrance fee of Rs.200.
5. The Executive Committee shall also collect Donations from the public for the
expenses of the association.
Removal of members:
If any membership is in arrears of the subscription for more than 6 months shall
automatically cease to be a member of the association. A member’s connection
with the Association shall terminate in any one of the following ways:
(a) By cancellation of his/her membership due to non-payment of subscription
(b) By withdrawal/resignation
(c) By conviction by a Court of Law
(d) Declared as insolvent.
Constitution: The Executive Committee consists of One President,
One Vice President, One Secretary, One Treasurer, and EIGHT
Committee Members total of 12 (TWELVE) Executive Committee
Members in the Association.
Appointment of Executive Committee Members:
- All the members of the Executive Committee shall be appointed by a resolution
passed by a majority of the members entitled to vote at the General Body meeting
in pursuance of the election conducted straightway to the designations. - Any vacancies in the Executive Committee shall be filled up only by the General
Body and the term of office of such members shall be on with other members of
the Executive Committee. - No co-option/nomination of members can be made to the Executive Committee.
Term of Office of the Executive Committee Members: Term of office of the Executive Committee members will be one year.
Eligibility For the Executive Committee Members:
- The candidates for the Executive Committee must be alumni who have been
out of college for at least two years and have a good attitude toward the
college’s future. - No member shall contest for more than one post in the executive
Committee - The person contesting for the executive committee must be a live member as
per the register of members.
- It shall be competent for the executive committee to form such sub-committee (s), as it
may deem fit and to assign from time to time such functions and duties and delegate
such powers on any particular issue that may be of interest to the Association and make
representations or to represent the Association before any other organization or appear
before any authority and make such steps as may be necessary in pursuance thereof,
The president and secretary will be ex-officio members of such sub-committee(s). - The proceedings of the committee shall not be invalidated on account of any vacancy
or vacanciesin the committee which may remain unfilled or defect in the committee. - Any member of the executive committee may at any time resign from office by
sending his/ her resignation to the president or secretary. But, such resignation shall
take effect only from the date on which it is accepted by the committee. - If a committee member violates the bylaws or engages in activities that are damaging
to the Association’s goals and growth, the committee members have the authority
to expel or remove that member at any time. Where a member of the executive
committee is absent for three consecutive meetings of the Committee without
leave of absence, action will be taken by the executive committee to remove
such member from the executive committee.
a) Every member is entitled to enjoy and avail of the facilities provided by the
Association.
b) Every member shall have the right to take part in the General Body Meeting
and shall have one vote at such meetings.
c)Every member is entitled to contest for membership in the Executive
Committee
d)Every member shall abide by the rules and regulations laid down in the
by-laws and also hard to promote the objectives of the Association.
e) Every member shall maintain the spirits de corps and have cordial relations
with the members either personally or in the profession.
f) Any member who harms the Association’s assets while performing their
obligations is responsible for making an end to the harm they have done.
- For any type of transaction, the Alumni Association Society must obtain
approval from its Executive Committee. - The Executive Committee has the power to appoint staff for Executive work
of the Association and to frame service rules for such staff - The Treasurer of the Association is authorized to have a sum not exceeding
Rs.3000 for daily transactions. The funds of the Association will be deposited
in any Nationalized Bank or banks as decided by the Executive Committee
by Rule No. 24 of The Tamil Nadu Societies Registration rules.
