ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was established in the year 2001 with the intake of 45 students and increased to 120 in the year 2007 and continues to be till date. There is one PG programme- M.E-Applied Electronics that was started in the year 2013. The undergraduate and post graduate programmes offered by the department of Electronics and Communication give students a strong technical foundation and research skills that enable them to succeed in their chosen fields. With the strength of the dedicated and dynamic faculty members, ever supportive management and well-motivated students, the department is fully geared up in its pursuit of attaining excellence in engineering education with ethics. ECE department has well equipped laboratories, air-conditioned computer laboratories, highly qualified and dedicated teaching faculty, importance for extracurricular activities, special coaching for slow learners. We also have Educational Achievements, that includes, Industrial visit, In-plant training, Mini Projects and Innovation Project Competition. Opportunities in ECE includes program analyst, communication engineer, electronic circuit designer, Electronic Engineer, Signal Processor, Telecommunication Engineer, VLSI Engineer, Data Analyst, Engineering professors. Our students are placed in well reputed companies. Keeping the Studies apart, we do have fulfilled activities in the department like symposium, Farewell, Pongal celebration and many more.

Vision

Mission

  • Ensure effective teaching learning process and develop competent professionals in the design and implementation of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

  •  Equip with strong foundations to carryout R&D in the Electronics filed and to enable  continuing education.

  •  Provide ethical and value based global education by promoting activities addressing the  societal needs.

  •  Provide placement opportunities and to provide motivation for higher studies.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

PEO1. Exhibit a strong foundation in the required sciences in order to pursue studies in Electronics and        Communication Engineering.

PEO2. Gain adequate knowledge to become good professional in electronic and communication engineering associated industries, higher education, and research.

PEO3. Develop attitude in lifelong learning, applying, and adapting new ideas and technologies as their field evolves.

PEO4. Critically analyze existing literature in an area of specialization and ethically develop innovative and research-oriented methodologies to solve the problems identified.

PEO5. Practice a professional and ethical attitude and an ability to visualize the engineering issues in a broader social context.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs)

PO 1 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO 2 Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

PO 3 Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO 4 Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO 5 Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO 6 The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

PO 7 Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO 8 Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of    the engineering practice.

PO 9 Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

PO10 Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

PO 11 Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

PO 12 Life-long learning: Recognize the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)

PSO1: Design, develop and analyze electronic systems through application of relevant electronics, mathematics and engineering principles.

PSO2: Design, develop and analyze communication systems through application of fundamentals from communication principles, signal processing, and RF System Design & Electromagnetics.
