About the Committee

The ED Cell of this college is professionally accomplished by a blend of faculty and students. The coordinators from different disciplines are entrusted with the responsibilities of conducting awareness programs, entrepreneurship-oriented events, and activities, thus disseminating information to the students in the college. The advisory board of ED Cell consists of faculty members, students, and well-established and experienced entrepreneurs from different areas whose ideas and expertise can be inspiring.

Our vision is to address the requirements of aspiring entrepreneurs with innovative ideas that hold significance at individual, societal, and national levels. We aspire to instill a culture of entrepreneurship within the college, thus enhancing the education system.

Mission

Our mission is to establish and enhance eco-friendly infrastructure that encourages sustainable practices, stimulates innovation among students and faculty, and aligns with contemporary industrial and business norms. We aim to cultivate partnerships with governments, industries, financial institutions, NGOs, and esteemed higher educational and research institutions to generate employment opportunities.

Functions of the Committee

  • To cultivate aspiring entrepreneurs among students who have a strong desire to become entrepreneurs.
  • To raise awareness about entrepreneurship and its importance among students.
  • To spark interest in entrepreneurship and encourage students by providing assistance and guidance to become successful entrepreneurs.
  • To serve as a networking hub for aspiring entrepreneurs, playing a role in team building through mentorship. Providing early-stage direction and necessary exposure is crucial in transforming technical ideas and projects into viable business plans.
  • To conduct various awareness programs, such as seminars, workshops, and interactions with successful entrepreneurs, aimed at making the student community more enthusiastic about developing their entrepreneurial skills.
  • To develop and maintain cordial and healthy relationships with all supporting institutions and organizations that promotes entrepreneurship development.
  • To engage with alumni of Meenakshi College of Engineering for the long-term growth of the ED Cell.
  • To interact with governmental agencies such as NSIC, MSME, and other entrepreneurship-oriented NGOs to obtain their input for the development of the cell.
  • To prepare students to be self-employed rather than seeking paid employment.
  • To encourage students to be job creators rather than job seekers.
  • To motivate students to contribute to national economic growth and social development by becoming successful entrepreneurs.

Roles & Responsibilities

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COMMITTEE COORDINATOR

  • To prepare a schedule for conducting entrepreneurship programs for each academic year.
  • To organize lectures, workshops and seminars by inviting successful entrepreneurs and officials from government agencies, NGOs, banking sectors, and industries. These events aim to share entrepreneurial knowledge, skills, and available financial facilities with prospective entrepreneurs, creating awareness and enhancing business acumen among students.
  • To maintain good relationships with alumni who have become entrepreneurs after completing their studies, using their knowledge and experience to inspire current students.
  • To invite speakers from financial and venture capital institutions to provide information on schemes and assistance available for promoting new ventures.
  • To arrange skill development programs related to entrepreneurship development.
  • To promote women entrepreneurship, encouraging women to compete in the industry and enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS

  • To identify students with entrepreneurial ideas and innovative potential.
  • To motivate interested students to attend training programs in the ED Cell and encourage them to form small groups within each department to present about successful entrepreneurs.
  • To identify successful entrepreneurs from each department of our college, obtain their contact information, and report it to the coordinator.
  • To work with the coordinator to organize programs and ensure their smooth execution.
  • To select a student representative from each class in every department to coordinate the activities of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF STUDENT MEMBERS

  • Regularly attend ED programs.
  • Coordinate with other aspiring entrepreneurs.
  • Participate in group discussions organized by the ED Cell.
  • Interact with resource persons invited to ED programs.
  • Seek assistance and guidance from the coordinator, advisor, and committee members.
  • Develop and present prospective entrepreneurial proposals.

The ED Cell committee consists of one Committee Coordinator, an Advisor and Committee Members representing the Departments of  MBA, MCA, Civil Engineering, MECH, CSE, IT, EIE, ECE, EEE, and B.Arch.
