About the Department

The department of EIE was started in the year 2007.The department sets its goal very high from time to time. The department has experienced faculty members in all specializations such as Process Control, Industrial Instrumentation, Bio-Medical Instrumentation, Embedded Systems and VLSI. The training facility for Software’s such as NI LabVIEW, MatLab, XILINX and KEIL are available in our department to enrich the knowledge of our students

This department deals with study of measurement of various physical (non-electrical) parameters such as Temperature, Pressure, Flow, Level, Humidity, Conductivity etc. using Sensors and Transducers and controlling the measured parameters in electrical forms using various control methods and modes. This branch finds huge applications in all process industries like Sugar Mill, Petroleum, Fertilizers and in all types of Power Plants. Industrial Automation is also one of the latest fields of Instrumentation Engineering.

Consistently, our students are obtaining very good academic results in Anna University Examinations from the beginning. 90% of our passed out students are in Core Industries like Refineries, Pharmaceutical, Power Plants, Bio-Medical Instrumentation etc. Our Old students are spread across the world in various MNCs of Instrumentation Engineering like Siemens, ABB, Honeywell, Dow Chemicals, Emerson, Yokogawa.

The EIE Association has taken a leading role in planning conferences, seminars, student-level symposiums, technical talks, and guest lectures. A variety of Indian and international universities send representatives to participate in hackathons, technical quizzes, paper presentations, poster presentations, and debugging sessions.

Faculties

The faculty members at our establishment endeavor to impart knowledge to students by means of distinguished and essential methods. Through interesting teaching methods, the highly qualified and renowned mentors impart knowledge of a variety of specializations to students. Research in the fields of Process Control and Instrumentation, Bio Medical Instrumentation, Wireless Sensor Networks, Applied Electronics, VLSI design, and Image Processing is conducted by academic members. Modern equipment, excellent facilities, and well-established laboratories are features of the department.

Students

The department is leading the way in promoting student organization and participation in national symposiums, national and international conferences, workshops, seminars with guest lecturers, and other events. IEEE publishes several periodicals and magazines, the bulk of which are available at our central library. Our institution also offers online access to the publications.

VISION

The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering shall strive to be a globally known department, committed for its Academic excellence, Professionalism and Societal expectations. The Department aims to impart state of the art technical knowledge, practical skills, leadership qualities, team spirit, ethical values and entrepreneurial skill to make all the students capable of taking up any task relevant to the area of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.

MISSION

The mission of the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is to,

  • Prepare the students to have a very good fundamental knowledge to meet the present and future needs of industries.
  • Improve the technical knowledge of the students in tune with the current requirements through collaboration with industries and research organization.
  • Make the students gain enough knowledge in various aspects of system integration.
  • Motivate the students to take up jobs in National Laboratories and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering industries of our country.
  • Take up inter and multidisciplinary research, sponsored and consultancy projects with industries and research establishments.
  • Encourage the faculty members and students to do research and to update with the latest developments in the area of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.
