Admission in Hostel

Admission to the hostel is based-on First come first serve policy. Students who seek admission to this hostel, have to submit an application to the warden in a prescribed, form with a passport size photograph affixed and duly signed by the student and parent / guardians.

Hostel Location

Our ANR boys hostel is located at Chikkarayapuram near Mangadu Chennai. The hostel location is 13 kilo meters far away from our college and Girls Hostel is located at Valasarvakkam, Chennai and is 3km away from our College, Buses will be operated in the morning and evening session for the students to reach the hostel. Breakfast , Coffee snacks and dinner is provided in the hostel and the lunch is provided in the College.

Following facilities are provided in the Hostel

  • The College offers a very comfortable living accommodation with separate hostels for boys and girls under the care of resident wardens. There is one hostel for boys and one for girls with enough space to accommodate the out station students.
  • The College has separate hostel facilities for boys and Girls with all amenities. Utmost care is taken to serve wholesome food. Adequate security arrangements including CCTV Monitoring provision have been provided for safety and security of the inmates.
  • Boys’ hostel accommodates up to 444 boys and girls hostel can accommodates up to 100 girls with a separate mess, common room etc. Considerable stress is laid on a clean and healthy environment.
  • The hostel provides hygienic and quality food to suit diverse tastes and preferences. A comfortable mess hall has also been provided. The hostel rooms are provided with table, chairs, cupboards, beds, common bath, and hot water facilities. The other common facilities include availability of telephone and television.

Functions of the Committee
  • Hostel Committee consisting of a convenor, Member Secretary, Faculty and Student Committee members, who are selected by Principal, Meenakshi College of Engineering.
  • The Committee coordinates with the Warden in the routine functioning and organizing of all activities of the Hostel to ensure smooth running of the Hostel activities.
  • The Convener is the Head of the Committee and looks after the general welfare of students and residential life in Hostels .The convenor advices the coordinator and committee members on matters concerning their functions.
  • The committee actively meets once a month to discuss and mutually settle hostel affairs. The Member secretary maintains Minutes of meeting of hostel committee.
  • The coordinator is appointed as a liaison person between warden and students in the hostel by the Principal, MCE.
  • Committee collaborates with the warden and caretakers to supervise the condition of the sanitation in hostel including Mess.
  • The coordinator and committee members will periodically visit the room of the students and will be in contact with the warden to make the students adhere to the rules and regulations of the hostel.
  • The Convener and committee members shall keep close contact with the students and pay attention to their health, hygiene, recreational facilities and maintenance of sanitation in the hostel.
  • The coordinator and Faculty committee member will have responsibility to observe the hostel rules and regulations properly and maintain discipline and shall promptly report to the convener and warden all cases of misbehavior, indiscipline and sickness of the residents in the hostel.
  • Committee encourages indoor and outdoor sports activities to promote the welfare of the students.
  • The activities of committee will be observed and guided by Convener of the Committee.
Roles & Responsibilities of the Chairman
  • The Chairman is responsible for overall administration of the hostel and is the authority in charge for all hostel related issues. Chairman is responsible for implementation of decisions taken by the hostel committee, through Deputy Warden and Supervisor.
Roles & Responsibilities of Co-ordinator
  • Maintaining of the discipline in the mess and mess related activities.
  • Receiving the student grievances, report to the concerned authorities and get them resolved.
  • The committee will enquire the cases of breach of hostel conduct rules pertaining to a hostel and take suitable action along with respective authorities.
  • Sustaining the quality of food and cleanliness based on the supervision and feedback.
  • The Coordinator will act as a back-up for the residential warden when the residential warden is on leave.
Roles & Responsibilities of Members
  • Support the committee in planning and implementing the objectives.
  • Act as major part in delivering the regularities among the students in the hostel.
  • Represent to bring out the feedback of hostel facilities to the committee and help to seek the options to overcome the problems.
  • Motivate the first year students to involve in the activities of the committees and help them to alleviate the home sickness.
  • Students build a home-based environment for the students in the hostel.
